These terms are an agreement between you and [COMPANY] ("Human Pass", "we", "us") for using Human Pass. By creating a Human Pass, you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, don't create one.
Early access
Human Pass is in early access. It's being tested with a small group of invited people and sites. Features can change, and things can go wrong; we'll fix problems as quickly as we can and tell you about any that affect you.
What Human Pass is
Human Pass lets you prove to sites that you're a real, verified person with one account, without telling them who you are. You verify a government ID once; after that you sign in to sites with Human Pass, and each site gets its own ID for you.
Who can use it
- You must be 18 or over.
- You may have only one Human Pass. If you already have one, use it (or recover it) rather than creating another.
- You may only verify your own documents. Using someone else's ID, a fake or altered ID, or someone else's face is not allowed, and may be a crime.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in methods (email, password, passkeys, authenticator app, recovery codes) safe, and tell us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] if you think someone else has access.
- Keep your email address current: it's how we tell you about security changes and how you recover your account.
- You're responsible for what's done with your Human Pass, unless it was used without your permission and you told us promptly.
Fees
Creating a Human Pass is free, and so is one verification (or re-verification) a year. Extra verifications cost a small fee, shown before you pay; recovering your Human Pass by verifying your ID may need a temporary card hold, released or charged as explained on that page. Payments are handled by Stripe.
Sites
Sites decide whether to accept Human Pass and what to do with what you share with them. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them. We're not responsible for sites' content or how they treat your account there.
What we can do
- Refuse to create a Human Pass, or suspend or close one, if we reasonably believe these terms were broken (for example a stolen or fake ID, or several Human Passes for one person), to comply with the law, or to protect others. Where it's safe and lawful, we'll tell you why and how to contest it.
- Resolve disputes about who an ID belongs to, after re-verification; if a claim is upheld, the document can move to the rightful owner's Human Pass, and sites see the old ID as revoked.
Deleting your Human Pass
You can delete your Human Pass from your account page at any time. What we keep afterwards, and for how long, is in the privacy policy.
Disclaimers
Human Pass is provided "as is" during early access. We work hard to make verification accurate, but identity checks can be wrong: a real person can be refused, and a determined fraudster could get through. We don't promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months and [US$100]. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law (for example for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud), or your rights as a consumer under the law where you live.
Changes
We may change these terms. If a change matters, we'll ask you to agree to the new version the next time you sign in, and tell you what changed. If you don't agree, you can delete your Human Pass.
Law
These terms are governed by [GOVERNING LAW], except where the law where you live gives you rights that can't be taken away. [VENUE / DISPUTE RESOLUTION, to be set with counsel.]
